On the other hand, Pietsch Verlage, in collaboration with your author Volker Lapp, will give a lecture on Thursday, 08.06.2023, at 2:00 p.m. about the famous Camel Trophy and the book created for it.
Camel Trophy lecture at the Adventure & Four Wheel Drive 2023
The legendary Camel Trophy - 1,000 miles of adventure & a unique book project With Andreas Bender, Nick Dimbleby and Volker Lapp
Moderation: Andreas Bender
Andreas Bender was one of the founders of the Camel Trophy and from 1980 to 1986 head of organization.
The idea for the Camel Trophy was born in 1980 when three teams from Germany set out to drive the 1,600 km Transamazonica across Brazil in Jeep CJ6 off-road vehicles. Andreas Bender was just 27 years old at the time.
When the participants of this first "Camel Trophy" emerged from the jungle after 12 days, they had not only experienced incredible adventures, fighting their way through mud and dust, dirt and sweat, mosquitoes, fleas and leeches, hunger and thirst, exhaustion and injuries - they had become heroes virtually overnight. The legend of the Camel Trophy was born.
Interview with Nick Dimbleby and Volker Lapp
Nick Dimbleby was a member of the Camel Trophy photo team from 1996 to 2000 and is the author of the book "Camel Trophy - 1,000 Mile Adventure - The Ultimate Story." The book was published in English in 2021 and will be published in German in June 2023 by Motorbuch Verlag in an edition expanded by 16 pages in German. Over 350 pages and about 800 photographs bring the entire history of the Camel Trophy to life. An absolute masterpiece!
Volker Lapp was a participant of the Camel Trophy in Brazil in 1984. 400,000 people applied for a place in the team at that time - 4 were selected and Volker Lapp was one of them. The original telegram with the message as well as his diary entries from that time are part of the German language edition of Nick Dimbleby's book. In the following years Volker Lapp became part of the Camel Trophy organizing team.
He is the author of the book "Wie helfe ich mir draußen - Touren- und Expeditionsratgeber", which has been a standard work for all outdoor enthusiasts for 35 years and is published by Pietsch Verlag.
The lecture will be accompanied by numerous photos and videos. This will be followed by a book signing at the Paul Pietsch Verlag stand (E03).

Friday, 09.06.2023, 12:30 p.m.
and
Saturday, 10.06.2023, 12:30 p.m.
Every person hopes never to get into a medical emergency situation in which she/he or close persons could be seriously harmed.
But what if another case occurs and you are suddenly confronted with an emergency situation yourself?
In countries like Germany, there is a comprehensive medical care system. The ambulance service arrives promptly, treats the patient and transports him to a suitable hospital.
In many countries around the world, however, there is no such luxury of a nationwide medical or rescue service, let alone a hospital structure, as there is in Germany.
What do you do then? How can a medical emergency situation be recognized early and a person - perhaps someone close to you - be helped?
This lecture gives an insight into the problems of care as well as an outlook on the possibilities of preparation and emergency medical care in remote areas of the world - Remote Area Emergency Care (RAEC).
Speaker: Martin Eickhoff
Managing Director of pro-medi GmbH
among others emergency paramedic, RAEC- as well as TEC-Paramedic.
He has many years of professional experience in national and international emergency medicine and has himself been active for over 18 years as a trainer and consultant in various national and international medical fields.

Ulrich Dolde - Dismantle mobile homes yourself
Friday, 09.06.2023, 3:00 p.m.
and
Sunday, 11.06.2023, 11:00 a.m.
In his mid-40s, Ulrich Dolde quit his job, bought a four-wheel drive truck with his beloved Edith and together they converted it into a comfortable long-distance motorhome. In the process, their "little star" - as their truck is called - was created, with which they first spent eight months traveling through southern Europe, Morocco and the Western Sahara.
After returning from their first test tour - in the crisis year of 2009 - Ulrich wrote his book "Dismantling and optimizing motorhomes yourself" on the basis of 2000 dismantling pictures.
Neither the book was planned, nor the lifestyle that resulted. But the "little star" has had a significant impact on their everyday lives. For more than four years, they have lived in their mobile home on eight square meters.
In his workshop, Ulrich Dolde takes the audience on a "piggy gallop" tour of his motor home in one hour. Afterwards, he is happy to answer the audience's questions.
